Infant Oral Exams

A Good Start

Following the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, our doctors suggest infants should come in for their first oral exam between the ages of 6-months to 1-year-old.

What happens at your baby's first dentist appointment

  • An evaluation of your baby's oral hygiene, eating and drinking habits, fluoride intake, and their risk for tooth decay.

  • Removal of any plaque deposits or stains on your child's teeth with special tools for your child's age and needs

  • We will demonstrate proper cleaning techniques to you and give suggestions on how to keep your baby's smile healthy

  • Evaluate your child's mouth for any abnormal bumps or sores

  • Assess the current impact of thumb-sucking and pacifier use

Our doctors want to start your baby's oral health journey on the right track. As soon as your baby's teeth start coming in, it is a good idea to set up their first dentist appointment.
